Connections

As Juanita and I point out in one of our papers, the ideas she had were developed outside the academic setting. Normally, as an academic, one studies something and then develops a new idea that is no more than about an inch from the old ideas. But in Juanita's case, she didn't study anything. She only wanted to know how to deal with an abusive husband. And, her ideas far exceed that acceptable inch which accounts for the resistance we have faced in getting these ideas "out there."

Nevertheless there are academic ideas in the realms of psychology, sociology, and other -ologies that support what we say. Or else they demonstrate the muddle that is current understandings of "power."

The purpose of this blog is to connect Juanita's ideas to the ideas of others as they occur when I surf the web (or anyone else who would like to make these connections).

On Juanita's blog there are papers written that she actually read and often edited. On this blog will be ideas that I am writing based on her ideas but she is not here to make approval, so that's why I didn't want to get the two sets of writings mixed up.
